Fall for the Arts

Meet the Musician: Olivia Vanderford

Last Updated 8/17/2026

From singing at the Nebraska State Capitol to performing before a packed arena at the state wrestling championships, Olivia Vanderford has already had the opportunity to share her voice with audiences across Nebraska.

Now she's bringing that voice to downtown Columbus for Fall for the Arts.

Olivia will be a junior at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where she is majoring in Agricultural Communications. Music is another important part of her college experience as a member of UNL's Big Red Singers, the university's show choir.

Her experience performing the National Anthem has also taken her around the state. Olivia has sung for the Nebraska Capitol Christmas tree lighting as well as the state wrestling championships in Omaha, among other events.

But there's another thread running through Olivia's story: a genuine love for Nebraska.

Although she graduated from Lincoln High School, Olivia spent 10 years showing pigs through 4-H. Today, she's found another way to connect with agriculture and the people who are passionate about it as host of The Engler Journey podcasts at UNL, where she shares the stories of students interested in agriculture and entrepreneurship.

Her connection to communities across the state actually began much earlier.

Growing up, Olivia traveled Nebraska with her parents and brother while they worked on “Pure Nebraska” shoots for 10/11 News. Those experiences gave her the opportunity to see communities and meet people throughout the state.

Today, as Miss Fremont, she continues sharing two things especially close to her heart — her love for Nebraska and her love for singing.

On September 19, that journey brings her to Columbus.
